Domestic Abuse
Domestic abuse can happen in different ways
Domestic abuse might be physical, sexual, or emotional abuse. It can also involve limiting another's access to money or online services. Another form of abuse is honour-based abuse. This is when a person controls or hurts a relative because they believe it will protect the family's reputation.
It can happen between partners or within families.
Anyone can be affected, and anyone can be responsible for the abuse. The law also says that children who live in a home where domestic abuse happens are victims too. This is even if they do not experience abuse directly.
If domestic abuse is happening to you, it's important to get support from people you can trust. Domestic abuse can be a pattern of behaviour which happens over time. It does not have to be an emergency to ask for help.
